I like being regular and pronounce it “regler.” If I can get to the keyboard quickly enough, I’ll write out of the holy, terrible, and fantastic regular. I like a little house and a big yard. I whirl from child to sink to garden to spill, but I love to steep in different cultures and countries, too. I love to travel. Most of all, I love to write. I never questioned what I would grow up to be. Learn More About Me »

Sarah, I know you're feeling me.
There's really a magazine called "Garden & Gun"?!
You know it, friend. At least you have yours all neat. Mine are just in stacks on my bedside table and hidden beneath the bed.
Uh. Ok. Gee. I have a question. See, I counted the number of magazines I have and, well, does anyone have over 50 magazines in his/her house? Or even say, over 67?
Kim,I know. I know. Garden and Gun sounds horrific to some, but it is really my favorite - artsy, gorgeous, and unapologeticly southern.
Brooke, I just went through a magazine purge. You should have seen it. I could have made another house with them. The ones on the table are the brand new ones that I need to read. No wonder I can't seem to read more than four chapters of Pride and Prejudice.
Oh and Sarah, I straightened them there just for the picture. That ain't for real.
Ok, this is unrelated, but it has come up on your blog before and Pride and Prejudice made me think of it. I'm wishing one of you would start a book club!!! I'd love to discuss literature (or whatever) with you gals! I have a book shelf full of classics I've only daydreamed about reading.
Amber's husband here. I try not to run-a-muck in the run-a-muck (at least not too often), but here is my opportunity.
Garden & Gun--you must order it online tonight. It is a bit like the Oxford American for people with jobs (not that I don't love OA, and I clearly have a job). It can get a bit carried away from time to time; after all, who needs a $13,000 custom made shotgun with pure silver, hand engraved images of Kentucky race horses and mint juleps. Otherwise, a crazy good mag.
SOLD! I'll definately check it out. (Though, I don't know how "Real Simple" and "Geez" are going to feel about the new kid invading their space...)
Ashley, wouldn't it be cool to have a book-club blog? Maybe it would keep me accountable. After the good book, I can't seem to read anything but poetry, magazines, and recipes. I'm a shameful representative of English Majors gone mommy. Poetry totally does count, by the way, but I get its quick-fix rather than the long-suffering sitdownness of reading a book.
Garden & Gun? Is the brain behind that concept by chance found located in the head of one Mr. Craig Mirkes? Because that's way too big of a coincidence.
Oh my gosh! First, I was just thinking wouldn't it be cool if we started a book club blog.. mostly because I live way too far away to get to be part of the book club if you don't do it online and then I'd be so sad and jealous sitting out here thinking about all the fun everyone was having at the great new book club.
And second, Garden & Gun is huge out here, although the subscribers in Napa Valley would not understand how Amber's husband can't recognize the need for $13,000 custom made shotguns. What else is there?
