the Rock Home Companion: On the Pause and Allowed Mess (A Loud Mess)

Sometimes I look around and ask myself if this is really my life. Granted, those moments don’t come often, but when they do, I enjoy them, and I want to press the PAUSE button, so I can walk around in a freeze-frame to memorize it. These moments, 9 times out of ten, are when I’m allowing the mess and letting myself stray from time-frames. In a way, I have to press PAUSE on some things to allow other things – good things – to play out.
The socks that are stained concrete gray are my favorites.

PS: I’m keeping my nephew here for an entire week – 4 little boys! He’s the cutest thing, so more pictures are coming. A lot of this summer will be recorded in pictures and few words. I need to keep a little quiet here, if I can. Thank you if you’ve visited me. I love my porch friends.

Pausing in those moments with you. Love those breath-taking, pinch me moments.

I truely treasure those moments that make you want to pause and enjoy. Found your blog as I was checking out In Courage. You WILL be having fun with 4 boys!

Oh Amber, I feel the same way these days (and there are no cute little boys running through this home any more). I have to almost force myself to slow down and savor the moments.
It is always a joy to visit you. I'm looking forward to the "pauses."

i remember reading in the bridal magazines that the best advice given was that to slow down and take mental pics throughout the day; why do so few people tell us the same thing in motherhood? oh yes, they all mention how quickly it flies, but to really stop to pause? much harder to remember in the noise that is three boys!!! and a 4th on loan :)

Porch friends? I love it. Reminds me of what Ann said here: People and Privacy

I'm reminded of Shaun Grove's recent Home Movies post. Sounds like you're out there doing the thing instead of just sitting behind the camera. Good for you. Keep it up. We're cheering (and trying to do the same) from our own driveways.

Ah, I know what you mean. And I love the term, porch friends. We just had a bunch of 'em on my Ma-maw's back porch on Sunday.

Troy & I were having one of those pinch me moments while relaxing on our little patio, talking and watching the lightning and stars last night! Life is good! =) We have to throw Sylas into that mix sometime this summer! I'm officially a stay at home mom now! I'm ready to collect a lot of those snapshots! =)
