First, you have to imagine my accent, thick Alabama and Tennessee sorghum accent peppered with pine. Second, you need to know that under-eye makeup is a glorious gift from the Creator of the universe. Even the bags under the eyes of my heart are fairly dark. I have four sons. I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and I am still in love with my guitar-playing husband, Seth Haines, of 15 years years. He is my best friend, the best attorney in Arkansas, and my favorite author (Coming Clean (Oct 2015)). Sometimes he embarrasses the stew out of me, but it’s worth it for how hilarious he is. We write each other Marriage Letters once a month, like staking a claim, and we would love for you to join us in that.
Oddly combined outfits, arranged flowers in mason jars on the counter, and Saturday mornings at the market square where mandolins play keep a spark going inside me. I like being regular and pronounce it “regler.” If I can get to the keyboard quickly enough, I’ll write out of the holy, terrible, and fantastic regular. I love mustard on my sausage biscuits. I like a little house and a big yard. I whirl from child to sink to garden to spill, but I love to steep in different cultures and countries, too. I love to travel.
Most of all, I love to write. I never questioned what I would grow up to be.
