on compassion, my husband, and your mother’s day gift

I write about him all the time because I love him, and I’ve found that saying something out loud is a nice pat on the seal. I know he’s staying. I know he loves me.

Even though his gift for me this year was so public, not many of you actually know him. Seth Haines is absolutely the most fun person I have ever been around. He is smart and thinks differently about everything. He can take his fingers to a guitar and completely change our house, and I believe only the late Rich Mullins was able to put to words his affection for God better. Seth loves people. Seth loves passionately, and when he does, he does it with everything that runs through his mind.

He is not a perfect man, but God moves in him, and he’s a listener.

I’m asking you today to go visit his new site and tell him what you think. He’s starting a new project, and we need your help to accomplish something that will impact lives, not only of the ones receiving some beautiful letters but also of the lives receiving the funds to prevent a disease that kills one person at least every 30 seconds. Please visit MotherLetter.com and consider the gift that begins with “Dear Mother.” This is the Mother’s Day edition of the Mother Letter Project, and if you help, you’ll receive your own copy of the new edition before Mother’s Day. Believe me. There is not a better gift.

If you visit him again tomorrow, you can enter your name several times for a chance to win the kind of gift you’d put on your list of things to grab if your house caught on fire. Thanks for having fun with us and being just a regular person doing regular things to make an extraordinary impact.

Visit Seth at MotherLetter.com, follow Seth with Twitter, and sign up for his feed to get some Mother Letter on the daily.

I love the new site!!! I've stopped by a couple of times this week (and may I say, I was honored to get a sneak peek)....it is wonderful! I was so inspired by the first Mother Letter Project, and when I am struggling in my own personal mothering journey I find strength in the words of all the mothers who shared their hearts. I look forward to being a part of this amazing project!!! Love you guys!!!

THANK YOU, MEGAN! I do, too, struggle and read the letters for encouragement.

I think it's going to do well.

We love you, too.
