What I Wore Wednesday and A Noonday Earrings Giveaway

When it’s time to do What I Wore Wednesdays, I have to say that it thrills me. Getting dressed is one of those things we can do. No matter what kind of day we know we’re going to have or what chains you’re working to pull off, we can dressed in the morning and feel a little bit more like a person.

I bought this bamboo shirt at a local boutique shop for $30, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t know what they had. It’s the softest thing I have, it keeps it’s shape, and it hides mine, not that there’s anything wrong with it. There’s just something really comfy about leaving room for imagination and being able to dance underneath something while nobody would even know I’m doing it.

These boots are how I settled after Konrad the Comrade (that dog) ate TWO pair of my boots. He’s just a puppy. What woman with 4 boys adopts a puppy? A woman who is going to be a wearing a cute pair of boots, that’s who. This photo doesn’t do glory. I love a hard edge on every outfit I wear, and motorcycle boots do it. They slip on and make me sound like I’m bringing the thunder, and a woman with 4 boys and a dog needs thunder.

My girlfriend, Corrie, gifted me this gorgeous necklace. She and I, we have Ethiopia in common, she with her daughter home now, and I with my heart always there in a place called Kidmia. You haven’t seen me write much about it, because I can hardly stand it. Often I cry while I vacuum. I can’t explain it.

When Corrie told me this necklace was made from upcycled metal and artillery found in an Ethiopian field and hammered together by victims of HIV/AIDS, I was overwhelmed, how art is made of such. This necklace is so well-made and heavy against my heart. How many women across the world are in chains?

Noonday Collection is a company that advocates for the orphan by:

“Providing jobs that create a pathway out of poverty for families. A stable income means a family is less likely to abandon their child.

Help families raise money for their own adoptions. We give 10% of trunk show sales directly to the adoptive family when they host a trunk show.

Aside from donating 10% towards qualified adoptive families, Noonday Collection also gives towards orphan care and prevention.”

I’ve seen so many of these products from all over the world, and the quality well surpasses most of what I’ve seen in local boutiques. I’m so honored to be able to offer to you these gorgeous Ribbon Earrings from India as a gift from Corrie.

Sometimes we see the chains of others, and there is something we can do. Especially if we’re buying jewelry anyway, I’m so pleased that we can do it in a beautiful way that supports widows and orphans across the world. Please remember Corrie at Noonday Collection when you do your Christmas shopping this year.

Please enter with rafflecopter to win those gorgeous ribbon earrings! Good luck, and thank you always for coming here to spend time with me.

There’s a freedom I hear about that I just don’t always recognize in my life. I long to be free so much that maybe I’ve built a habit of feigning it. I would love it if you would like to join me in exploring this path to true freedom, A Study of Chains in 31 Days. You can follow along on Facebook or subscribe to these posts by email or in a reader. {Thank you so much, by the way, for walking with me.} Are you ready to shirk these chains?
Also, psssst! I switched feed and email providers, so subscribe to the new stuff above if that’s how you do!

It would be a shame not to be. :) The dogs chewed my boot is the new my dog ate my homework. Or can the dog ate my boots be the new black. ? :(

Beautiful collection. There's something about that Beza Charm Necklace... That would be my favorite that I've seen so far. :)

very cute :-) and is your house always that picked up? really?? sigh.
love the ribbon earrings. rather fond of the zeway earrings, too, though. nice & simple. her stuff is really lovely.

I loooove the charm necklace. It is stunning. This is a great story, Amber, for dress for the day. I think for me the DFTD challenge is the writing/storytelling more than the dressing & allowing myself to not only relax to take photos, but then to even post them on the interwebs! Oh goodness, it's a heart attack waiting. I'm glad to have such great examples such as you, Ari, & Abby. :)

Just stopped by because Addie Zierman said she was crying about an outfit and I wanted to see! I love Noonday. They're some of our dearest friends here in Austin; they sell some of the earrings our Burmese artisans make (http://bit.ly/V74W0O). Our head designer (http://bit.ly/U48Onv) is rushing off an order this week--I see firsthand what they do to make a difference in the lives of women all around the world. The founder, Jessica, is working on a blog post about poverty for my blog; her heart and her drive amaze me. I just got excited to stumble across your beautiful words about some of my favorite people this morning!

Fun outfit, and lovely jewelry. I really like the bouquet necklace!

Not sure how I found Noonday before, but I did. This was a lovely reminder, and just in time to add to my list of charities instead of gifts at Christmas.

I love the Beza Charm Necklase. I love the story behind the necklases, it's like a piece of the person who made it, and it's a beautiful thing.

"There’s just something really comfy about leaving room for imagination and being able to dance underneath something while nobody would even know I’m doing it."

THIS is why I love you, Amber. And the other reason I love you is that you can dance when people DO KNOW you are doing it. I want to be you when I grow up. ;-)

I actually love the one you're wearing, the ancient ways necklace. And I love the bamboo shirt, it's in one of my favorite colors. Do tell, what brand is it? I'd love to look it up online! Thanks!!!

I'm now obsessed with them. I must have the dulce necklace or a myriad of other things. WOW. Adore.

I have the Circles Forever bracelet in silver, and it's one of my favorite pieces. I love how Noonday is constantly updating their inventory and so, so stylish (so I don't have to figure out how to be). Loved this post, Amber. The vacuuming/crying thing? I get.

I love this so much! I love how you write, even when you're not really writing. You are a breath of fresh air. This look is fantastic and I will be looking at the website for more. By the way, my daughter's name is Korrie. You don't find many of them around, so I make a note when I do. Something strange, I know...

This is such beautiful beautiful art. I love the scarves, especially Fireside and Hamaca. I could get lost in all the pretty things, especially knowing that this is a small way to help. Lovely.
